Kirrawee Kangaroos Junior Soccer Club Inc. Grading Policy
Generally
This grading policy is designed to ensure that grading of Kirrawee teams is undertaken in a consistent manner, and that the players, coaches & parents have an expectation of the outcome of grading.
A grading committee will be nominated by the club committee, which will be charged with the duty of carrying out gradings.
Every player has the right to appeal a grading decision. The appeal will be heard by the grading committee.
The Club Committee will apply the policy fairly. Decisions of the committee will be final and will take into account all influencing factors.
Grading of Players
Roo Ball Teams. (U6-U11; non-competition)
Rooball players will not be graded on ability, but will instead be graded generally on a social basis. The predominant condition will be that of who they are friends with, or which area they come from, or which school they attend. The reason for this is twofold. Firstly the children and their parents generally want the child to play with their friends, particularly new school friends. Secondly, grading is not undertaken on an ability basis in order to get an even spread of greater and lesser talented players in each team, so that those of greater ability encourage those of lesser ability, improving the skill level of both the lesser and greater ability player.
Where all lesser ability players are grouped into 1 team, these teams tend to flounder, and the players are more likely to leave the sport.
Junior Teams. (U12-21, Boys and Girls; competition)
Teams from under 9 play competition soccer, and as such will be graded on ability. Grading will generally be undertaken over 2 grading nights, with a combination of skills sessions and mock games.
Grading of each age group will be carried out by a person nominated by the club committee. Whilst the grading officer may consult with the coaches of the age group being graded, the grading officer will not be a coach of any team in that age group.
Senior Teams. (Male and Female All age, O35 & O45)
All age and over 35 teams generally comprise groups of friends, and as such are generally not subject to grading.
Where the club has sufficient registrations for more than 1 team nominated in the PL1-3 categories, and the make up of those teams is not apparent through friendships, the Club Committee may direct that the players be graded into teams. Where the club committee directs this, the gradings will be undertaken as described under Junior teams above.
Grading of Teams
Team gradings will be undertaken by the Club Committee, in consultation with the team coach. Factors considered will include:-

All sponsors are important to the running of Kirrawee Kangaroos Football Club.
Sponsors enable us to offset costs which players would otherwise have to pay. Without sponsors, registration fees would have to be increased and more fund raising carried out, putting pressure on players and families.
It is important that we support our sponsors so they can continue to support us.
If you do business with any of our sponsors, let them know you are from Kirrawee Kangaroos.
