Working with Children

Kirrawee Kangaroos Football Club is committed to ensuring that health, safety and welfare of all children and young people is maintained at all times during their participation as a player, coach, official, volunteer, or spectator of Kirrawee Kangaroos Football Club. This club as an affiliated member of Football NSW and Sutherland Shire Junior Football Club fully support the Child Protection Policies and guidelines of these organizations.

From 1 April 2015, new procedures and legislation apply to all sporting clubs and volunteer organisations.

Under these regulations, all coaches, managers or other volunteers (unless exempted) who interact with children are required to have a Working with Children check. The details of this check must then be provided to the club committee.

The only people who don’t have to provide a WWC number to their club are those who don’t work or volunteer with children or who are exempt.

Exempt from WWCC

  • People under 18 years of age
  • Volunteer parent who coaches or manages their own child’s team
  • Volunteer who coaches or manages a close relative’s team (see definition below)
  • Canteen managers, canteen workers and caterers
  • Grounds persons

“Close Relative” = A spouse or de facto partner of the person; or a child, step-child, sibling, step-sibling, parent, step-parents, grandparent, step-grandparent, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew of the person.

Exempt persons who do volunteer work with children need to sign a “Member Protection Declaration” Form and provide it to the club.

NOTE:

The NSW State Government’s Child Protection legislation makes it an offence for a person convicted of a serious sex offence (a prohibited person) to apply for, undertake or remain in, child-related employment (including volunteer work).

If you have any questions or concerns, please talk to a committee member as soon as possible.

Please support our club Sponsors.

All sponsors are important to the running of Kirrawee Kangaroos Football Club.

Sponsors enable us to offset costs which players would otherwise have to pay. Without sponsors, registration fees would have to be increased and more fund raising carried out, putting pressure on players and families.
It is important that we support our sponsors so they can continue to support us.
If you do business with any of our sponsors, let them know you are from Kirrawee Kangaroos.
